Yep, I'm on Facebook! It is the first company that I visit USA during Summer or PLAY. I'm going this summer along with companies which play an important and fun part of their corporate culture. And let there now also a few of the most successful companies in the world amongst them!
I walk the grounds of Facebook and come along a long line greyish buildings and crowded parking lots. Looking for Building 16. Pretty scariest bathroom in the world much back on the ground. Truly inspiring, it is not here. It looks like an ordinary business. Nothing playfully.
When I step inside at building number 16, there is immediately a lot more colorful. scariest bathroom in the world I register by checking my Facebook profile. In My online and offline world giving each other a high five.
I am warmly welcomed by the Dutch Hugo. His company is a few years ago acquired scariest bathroom in the world by Facebook and since then he has been working here on campus in Menlo Park. He takes me to a row of refrigerators filled with all kinds of drinks. "Pick one, everything is free." We walk through the large courtyard between the buildings. It is a startling contrast to the drab exterior of the campus. Cafes, restaurants, a coffee shop, a candy store, a bar, amusement arcades. It looks like a holiday. An all-inclusive because you have nothing to pay.
Hugo gives me a turbo tour through several buildings. Everywhere you find micro kitchens where you can get snacks scariest bathroom in the world and drinks. Halls where you can play old arcade games or even ping pong. A laundry where workers can wash their clothes. Free of course. scariest bathroom in the world The IT department is a vending scariest bathroom in the world machine where you mice, keyboards etc can pull out. Yep, even for nothing.
In one of the buildings is a huge wall where employees and visitors can leave messages: an analog Facebook Wall. And there's even more fun analog where employees can play. Between them One of my favorite rooms is the one where you can screen printing. Followed by a woodworking scariest bathroom in the world space in which two elderly scariest bathroom in the world men between scariest bathroom in the world the wood chips are.
We also pass the large room where the world famous hackathons Facebook account. Once in a week this space is filled with staff available 24 hours designing and programming to try fanciful new ideas with each other. Just to experiment. And there may just adjustments for Facebook among them. But it does not.
Another striking part is the large open work spaces. The campus was formerly of Sun Microsystems but when Facebook came in, they have the walls of all office spaces removed to promote. Openness and cooperation When we walk between rows of desks where people are busy at work, Hugo nods to one of the agencies: "Look, there's Mark Zuckerberg". Among the others. No separate office. He has a meeting scariest bathroom in the world room. A kind of fishbowl, completely of glass. scariest bathroom in the world Literally transparent so ;-)
After an hour comes to an end when the turbo tour Hugo have a meeting again. But gosh, what an introduction to Silicon Valley. Very special to be aware of where I stand so much online. Really in the heart And to be so energetic and inviting. In an office environment
When I do I get the site back end along the foot thumb. And oh, what the hack, why uncool? Click! The Droste effect is complete when someone a picture with an inch of my photo takes on Facebook again. Online and offline are now completely intertwined. Of course I respond again ... Well, you get him well ;-)
During my visit I quickly shot some pictures with my phone. Want a better look at the Facebook Campus, on Office Snapshots scariest bathroom in the world where you'll find a whole bunch of pictures. Viewing PLAY @ Work tip: organize a hackathon
Hacking scariest bathroom in the world is an adaptation scariest bathroom in the world do in an existing product / system and thus give another application. That can be also very different scariest bathroom in the world things than code and computers. Organize like Facebook have a hackathon. In a way that fits with your business. For example, an afternoon and not 24 hours. Anyone can suggest ideas. Smart, scariest bathroom in the world funny, original ideas for improvements within the work. Or just that one little ordinary little idea that is on the shelf for years. No censorship, anything goes! The goal is not that the ideas have to be implemented. Not. That only gives more freedom. Anyone can join the idea where it has the most. In groups, the ideas uitgewe
