All, I spent a little time at Island Lake Rec. Area during the AM conducting my first series of point counts to see what has arrived so far this year. I cam away with about 18 species with the highlights being a flock of 4 kestrels foraging over the old gravel pit, Vesper Sparrow, Field Sparrow at two locations, Rusty Blackbird, and Pine Warbler. Mallard Lake just outside the park on Silver Lake Road had a flock of over 200 Ring-necked Duck and a pair of Common Mergs. RAW
